What's New in Ready2Roam 1.2.0: Your Whole Journey, One App

26 October 20266 min readBy Ready2Roam

Your whole journey, one app. Ready2Roam 1.2.0 is the biggest update we've shipped. Until now the app was where you planned and paid for the trip. From 1.2.0 it's where you drive it as well, with navigation that knows what you're towing, a view of where your phone will and won't work, and a way to plan the trip with the people coming with you — plan it, track it, roam, and remember, all in one place.

Here's what's new and where to find it.

Navigation that knows what you're towing

A car's sat-nav thinks you're a car, so it'll happily send a 7-metre van under a 3-metre bridge. Ready2Roam now has turn-by-turn navigation inside the app, built around the rig in your Garage.

  • Routes that suit your rig. Your height, length and weight come from your Rig Profile, so the route is planned for the whole combination, not just the car.
  • Warnings before they matter. You get a heads-up ahead of low clearances, steep grades and long stretches without a break. Where the road data flags a restriction, you'll see it in plenty of time, with an option to find another way.
  • Lane guidance and roundabouts. You'll know which lane you need and which exit to take before you're in the middle of the intersection.
  • Guidance on your Lock Screen. The next turn stays visible without unlocking your phone: a Live Activity on iPhone, an ongoing notification on Android.
  • Offline nav packs. Download the route before you lose signal, and navigation keeps going through the gap.

Prefer your own maps app? You can still send any route to Apple Maps or Google Maps in one tap. That's free for everyone, as always.

In-app navigation, offline nav packs and route Optimise are part of Nomad Pro. Road warnings are advisory: always check the signs and clearances on site.

Know your signal before you go

Losing signal is part of the trip. Not knowing it's coming is what catches people out. The new Coverage Map shows mobile coverage along your route and at the campsites you're looking at: how much of the route has usable signal, where the dead zones are, and which network is strongest there.

Each stop on your trip shows the signal you can expect when you arrive, so you can pick the park where you'll be able to make a call (or the one where you definitely won't, if that's the point).

Coverage is crowd-sourced from Ready2Roam travellers and modelled from network data, so treat it as a guide. Coverage varies by region, and it gets more detailed the more people travel with the app.

Free for everyone: your trip's route coverage card warns you about dead zones ahead, so you can download maps or let someone know before you drive into one. The full Coverage Map and stop-by-stop signal are part of Nomad Pro.

Plan it together

Trips are better shared, and so is the planning. You can now invite your travel mates into a trip. They see the route and every stop, and they can comment on individual stops, react and reply. "Dubbo first, then the long run to the Ridge" becomes a conversation instead of a group chat that gets lost.

Your budget and private notes stay private. You choose who can view and who can comment, and you can stop sharing at any time.

Joining a shared trip and commenting are free. Sending invites is part of Nomad Pro.

Plan it your way

Planning has been rebuilt around how people actually start a trip:

  • Quick Estimate when you just want to know roughly what a trip would cost.
  • Guided plan, a step-by-step builder that walks you from idea to itinerary.
  • Custom, for dropping stops straight onto the map.
  • Browse Routes, starting from one of our 400+ curated routes.

Trips now have a proper lifecycle. Save one to your planned trips, keep working on it, and start it when you're ready. Departure prep and readiness checks sit right on the trip, so you can see what's still to do before you leave.

Meet Izara

Our trip assistant has a name: Izara. Tell it where you want to go in plain English or by voice ("a 10-day loop from Brisbane to Cairns, free camps where we can, stop every third night") and it builds the trip: stops, budget, fuel and rig fit. It confirms before anything is saved. Izara is part of Nomad Pro.

Your Garage

Everything about your rig now lives in one place. The Garage holds your vehicles and their specs, upkeep and service reminders, registration and renewals, and your off-grid resources (water, power and gas) combined across the whole setup. Link a vehicle to Ready2Tow and the specs flow through, so you only enter them once.

Memberships, Community and Trailblazer

  • Membership wallet. Add your park and club memberships, and Ready2Roam will tell you when a site is one where you're a member, so you can ask about member rates. You can also choose to prefer member sites when planning. We only favour a site because you told us you're a member, never because someone paid us.
  • Community Q&A. Ask other travellers about a place or a topic (towing setups, water, routes, budgets) and get answers from people who've been there.
  • Become a Trailblazer. Add places, update details, post reviews and photos, and you'll help every traveller who comes after you. Reach a contribution tier and earn free Nomad Pro, up to three years. Full terms are in the app under Discover → Offers.

Also in 1.2.0

  • Budgeting is optional. Nomad Pro members who just want the trip can switch budgeting off. Financial planning is still there the moment you want it back.
  • Refreshed journal. Your journal now shows entries, photos and words at a glance, with photo highlights and a calendar of your travel days.
  • Widgets. Trip, Today, Budget and Coverage widgets for your home screen, plus an Off-grid Resources widget on iPhone.
  • Plenty of polish across the app, including a new look for trip details, budgets and the dashboard.
